ok so i think the kubrick one is better (1962) but they are both amazing and so dear to my heart. the 1997 one was closer to the book in plot and it had a lot of the lyrical loveliness and it was engaging in a lot of the ways the book was and as a whole but it lacked the dark humor of the book and specifically of lolita as a character and i think kubricks was ON POINT in that way also i love the subtlety of the 1962 one because it was so risque and yep but i actually love them both and have seen them both many many times :)
